General Question #1
Is anyone else finding it really difficult to come to grasps with the concept that young people are expected to choose one field/profession, get educated in it, and stick with it for life? I could probably feel equally passionate, and be equally successful, with some other major/field; does that mean that I should not be entering the one I have chosen?

I do not find it difficult for one to pick a profession and stick with it for life. During the course of becoming educated in the profession, one should then make the final choice of continuing with that type of work or switching to something that might be more enjoyable. Just because you might be able to put the same passion into another field as you would the one you were in, does not necessarily mean you should not enter the field but maybe reconsider what would make you more happy and whole.
whoops the one without a name was honey dew. my bad.
I actually find it very easy to grasp one job for the rest of my life. I plan on going into the military and becoming a pilot with a degree in Aerospace Engineering. After the military i plan on flying planes for comercial airliners. -Foxtrot
Everyone feels differently about the concept, but i feel as though it's wrong to make someone choose what they're going to do for the rest of their lives, at such an ignorant age. More then likely, youre going to change your job several times, before you find the one that you stick with.
Yes, I do find it diffucult to choose and stick to one job/profession. All you hear now and days is everyone changing their majors a bunch of times and trying to find one that suits them and one they like. If you dont like the major/field you are going in, don't go in it. Find something you like and go for it. It is important to go into a major/field that you like so you are not hating your job when you get older and enjoy going to work everyday.
I don't see a problem in having more than one profession that you feel passionate about. I wouldn't want to be faced with the decision as to which makes me more happy because if i really liked both of them, the decision would be to hard to make. You can do both if you really desire to.
Personally, I understand having multiple interests as far as career paths go, but that doesn't necessarily mean that you have to pursue all of them. It seems most reasonable to pursue one profession for the duration of your life, as long as it it the one you feel most passionate about, or that you believe would be most beneficial to you. The profession you choose could incorporate multiple talents or interests. Any other career interests could become a hobby, or volunteer work.
When deciding what profession one wants to enter they often look at a field they show a great deal of interest in. For someone to have a great passion for many different majors of study seems unlikely and unrealistic. If your first choice is a major that interests you greatly then you should stick with that study, unless you feel you are dissatisifed with that work, then is the time to consider different majors.
I do not find it difficult to pick one profession and stick with it for life. I feel that if you are not passionate in a particular field, you wouldn't study it throughout school and therefore it wouldn't become your profession. Everyone has a passion for something, which helps determind your carrer.
The idea of having to pick one profession and sticking with it for the rest of my life can be somewhat daunting. However, your first choice doesn't have to be your final one. If you are not happy with the first choice you make you can always change it. As long as you are happy with what your are doing as your profession, you can always have your other interests as hobbies.
I think that it would all have to depend on the person. For exmaple, if your easily led by people then it might seem as if you were being forced into a career. However if your one to live for yourself you wouldnt let that pressure effect you. My whole issue is alot of youth are led into a situation such as attending college and choosing a career when they know, deep down inside that its not for them.
I have to agree with you. Young people today, are finding a field or profession, get educated in it and stick with it for the rest of your life. I have to say, at first I was interested in engineering. Now that I took many health realted courses and many sciences, I am interested and passionate about studying medicine. While going through the schooling you might change your mind. With whatever you choose as a profession, it is best for you to love it so you can be the best at the profeesion. For me I know that I have a passion for medicine and someday want to practice it and make people feel better.
I think it is easy to pick a profession but sometimes it can be hard to stick with that choice. If you decide on something at a pretty young age later in your life you may realize that you do not like it at all or as much as you did before. You need experience things with that profession before you decide to do it for the rest of your life.
